Talent Education
The program is dedicated to cultivating high-level research and development (R&D) talent. In addition to recruiting full-time master’s- and doctoral-level research personnel, we actively nurture promising domestic and international graduate students. We also proactively attract Yushan Fellows and Yushan Young Fellows to sustain and expand the proportion of outstanding early-career researchers, thereby strengthening our overall research capacity and impact.
Academic Research
Our research spearheads precision health and plant health biotechnology, centering on orchids, staple food crops, and edible-medicinal plants. Over the past three years, we have significantly deepened our international collaborations, synergizing with 43 prestigious institutions across Europe, the United States, Asia, and Australia—most notably UC Davis. By actively publishing our findings in internationally renowned journals, we continue to drive the global impact and advancement of our research.
Industry-University Cooperation
Our center is committed to transforming research findings into practical applications and deepening industry-university cooperation both domestically and internationally. Our collaborative models encompass technology transfer, commissioned projects, material and resource exchange, testing and inspection, as well as technical services and consultation, all of which drive concrete spin-off benefits.
Social Contributions
Our team members actively organize and conduct various training activities for the Executive Yuan, the Ministry of Education, farmers' associations, and various schools. We also promote cutting-edge plant biotechnology through popular science lectures, enhancing public understanding of key scientific issues.Furthermore, over the past three years, we have provided a wide range of technical support and innovative achievements to advance government initiatives as well as the development of the orchid and rice industries, generating substantial and fruitful outcomes.
Environmental Contributions
This center has established advanced plant biotechnology platforms, including the “Green net house for genetically modified crops & Isolated experimental field,” the “International rice genome research center,” the “National genetically improved crop seed vault,” the “Core Laboratory for Cellular and Microscopic Imaging,” the “Plant Tissue Culture and Transformation Core Laboratory,” the “Genomics and Proteomics Research Core Facility,” and the “Metabolomics and Animal Experimental Analysis Core Facility.” In addition, in 2025, funds have been invested in the establishment of the “Orchid Biotechnology Core Laboratory.”
