Under the supervision of Associate Professor Chung-Feng Kao, master’s student Yen-Hsiang Huang won the First Prize in the Applied Innovation Category of the 6th CH Biotech Innovation Award(2025.07)

CH Biotech held the grand award ceremony for the 6th CH Biotech Innovation Award on July 15, 2025. Chairman Cheng-Bang Wu attended in person and warmly welcomed distinguished guests from all sectors to celebrate the occasion.

In his remarks, Chairman Wu expressed sincere appreciation to the judging panel and faculty advisors for their dedication and support. He emphasized: “R&D without innovation cannot be called real R&D—it is merely me too. The CH Biotech Innovation Award aims to make Taiwan’s R&D strength visible and, more importantly, to create value on the global stage.”

Professor Chen-Wen Huang, Chair of the judging committee, noted that the award’s core mission is to cultivate outstanding talent in Taiwan’s agricultural biotechnology sector and to foster the development of products with local characteristics and international competitiveness. He added that many of this year’s winning projects are interdisciplinary, reflecting agriculture’s ongoing shift toward integrated development in smart agriculture, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, bioinformatics, and biotechnology.

The First Prize in the Applied Innovation Category of this year’s CH Biotech Innovation Award was awarded to our Center’s research team: Master’s student Yen-Hsiang Huang, under the supervision of Associate Professor Chung-Feng Kao (Department of Agronomy, National Chung Hsing University), for the project “ShiNyP: An Interactive Platform for Genome-Wide SNP Analysis and Visualization.” This study integrates commonly used population genetics workflows for SNP data analysis and provides researchers with an interactive interface and visualization tools to improve the efficiency of genomic data interpretation and presentation. The platform offers strong practical value for agricultural genomics research and crop breeding applications. The related research成果 has been published in the international journal Molecular Biology and Evolution, showcasing our university’s R&D capacity in integrating agricultural biotechnology and bioinformatics.

This award not only recognizes the team’s research achievements, but also represents strong support from both industry–academia collaboration and the academic community, ensuring that researchers working on the front lines of agricultural biotechnology do not feel alone. Equally important is the steadfast support from parents, faculty mentors, and research teammates who have contributed throughout the journey—this honor belongs to everyone who worked together to make it possible.
