Recruite Dr. Ichiro Terashima
In 2024, Professor Ichiro Terashima from the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Tokyo joined the research team as a Yushan Scholar. Dr. Terashima, a former president of the Botanical Society of Japan, is a renowned expert in plant photosynthesis and physiological ecology. His research has had a profound impact on advancing the understanding of crop productivity and environmental adaptability, establishing him as a leading figure in the international plant biology community.
Recruite Dr. Wilhelm Gruissem as Yushan scholar:
Dr. W Gruissem was the former Dean of the Department of Plant Biology at UC Berkely, Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Society of Plant Biology, Science and Technology Advisor of the Executive Yuan, and Distinguished Professor of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. He is the only Yushan scholar from MOE in agricultural field in the country.
Establish the Larry Vanderhoef Memorial Lectures series:
Inviting outstanding scholars from UC Davis to deliver a series of excellent speeches in memorizing Dr. Larry Vanderhoef, former chancellor of UCD, to strengthen teaching and research cooperation and cultivate talents with international perspectives.
Promote the joint cultivation of talents with Kyoto University and the Institute of Physics and Chemistry (RIKEN) in Japan:
Professor Chang-Hsien Yang led the members of the center to visit Kyoto University and RIKEN, Japan, to discuss exchange of students, and to start the internationalization of the talents of this project to Japan.
Cultivate outstanding young scholars:
Professor Shih-Feng Fu was awarded Ta-You Wu Memorial Award in 2018, Associate Professor Jun-Yi Yang was awarded "Professor Shou-Gong Sun’s Phytopathology Award -Outstanding Young Plant Pathology Scholar Award" from the Department of Plant Pathology, NCHU; Dr. Shuen-Fang Lo was recruited as projected Assistant Researcher of the "Rice Functional Genome" project in the Center for Biotechnology center, NCHU.
